Youth Group Trip to
Washington D.C.Text Box: On June 14,2003, the St. Luke Youth Group sponsored a bus trip excursion to Washington D.C. The main purpose of the trip was to provide the confirmation classes an opportunity to visit the Nation Holocaust Museum. (Visiting the museum is a current requirement for confirmation.)  Our funny and eloquent bus driver from Executive Coach, Andrew, dropped us off at the National Mall at 10:00am.  Many visited the Holocaust Museum at 11:30am and spent a good 3 to 4 hours touring the exhibit. I believe that the youth and the adults were enlightened and educated on the Holocaust and its effects on millions of people worldwide. Other members of the congregation enjoyed the many museums and facilities around the National Mall including, the Air and Space Museum, the Greer Art Gallery, the Museum of Natural Science and the Museum of  American History to name a few.

The weather and company were wonderful! After a long day of walking, our bus driver, Andrew, (also, a past minister of 15 years), picked us up at 6:00pm for the drive home. Watching movies during the bus ride was also a hit! Unfortunately our fairly new bus did not want to shift out of 4th gear!  In addition, a certain pastor doesn’t know what the words “to go” mean when ordering food, and he almost missed his ride home! Ha, Ha. After hopping onto another bus, we eventually pulled into St. Luke’s parking lot at 10:00pm,  educated, enlightened, exhausted and smiling! We are looking forward to our next excursion. Maybe NYC!?
